(New Orleans, LA) – With a resounding commitment to servant leadership, New Orleans attorney Royce Duplessis has qualified to run for the office of State Representative, District 93.
Duplessis has immense experience working on behalf of the public’s interest, and maintains a strong track record of advancing public policy and leadership in city government, the state judiciary, as a lawyer and small business owner.
Duplessis said: “While we as a state continue to grapple with a potential billion dollar fiscal crisis, I will actively listen to constituent concerns, prioritize accountability, and work to deliver equitable outcomes for the people of New Orleans. I look forward to further engaging with citizens in the days ahead and earning their support.”
As the owner of the Duplessis Law Firm, LLC, Duplessis specializes in civil litigation and criminal defense. He previously served as Special Counsel to the Louisiana Supreme Court, where he focused on state and local criminal justice reform policy for Chief Justice Bernette Johnson. Duplessis also served as Chief of Staff for New Orleans City Councilmember James Carter (District C); law clerk for Judge Thomas Motley of the Superior Court of the District Columbia; and practiced energy law with Dentons, an international law firm.
He is the past Chairman of the New Orleans City Planning Commission where he served for the past five years and Immediate Past President of the GNO Louis A. Martinet Legal Society. Since 2012, Duplessis has also been a mentor with the nationally renowned Silverback Society.
Duplessis, born and raised in New Orleans, earned a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. He is also an alumnus of St. Augustine High School. He is married to Krystle Ferbos Duplessis, and they are proud residents of Central City.
The election will take place Saturday, March 24, 2018, with an early voting period scheduled for March 10 – 17, 2018.
